Maybe you have decided to avoid the National Lampoon-style top to bottom yard decorating, but still, want to get some fun Halloween time in with the family. For a lot of us around the Portland area that involves the pumpkin patch followed by some pumpkin carving.

Yes, parents, we are behind, but it’s not too late to plan something fun with the family and friends. With our perfect Portland climate for growing pumpkins, there are numerous pumpkin patches that can not only land you the perfect pumpkin for carving but also provide a memorable time out of the house this Fall. If your next question is “yes, but what Portland area pumpkin patch should we go to”, then we have a few suggestions that should make your list.

 

Cool Portland Area Pumpkin Patches

With literally tons of pumpkin patches scattered all around the Portland Metro area, we have put together a list of a few of the best. They are listed by area and each has a description that will help you determine what they have and whether it is a good fit for your family.

Westside Portland Area Pumpkin Patches

Baggenstos Farms, Sherwood, Oregon

Baggenstos Farms Sherwood corn maze and pumpkin patchBaggenstos is one of the oldest area farms and pumpkin patches on the westside. It is located on Roy Rogers Road on the Beaverton side of Sherwood. This Portland area pumpkin patch is great because of the number of activities that go right along with the pumpkin picking. They offer hayrides, mazes, a free animal area, and various other games and activities over an expansive 150-acre farm.

This year their corn maze leaves the normal fun behind as it pokes fun at the 2016 Presidential candidates. check out their Trump vs Clinton corn maze. This made us giggle a bit.

North Portland Pumpkin Patches

Bella Organic, NW Portland

That’s just a taste of what you’ll find at the Bella Organic pumpkin patch and winery. If the name doesn’t automatically get you thinking win-win for adults and kids, we are not sure what will.

This Portland pumpkin patch has a large and small pumpkin patch and get this… A 2.7 mile, 7 acre Sauvie Island corn maze. Not a small one, but great for the adults and older children in your house! What’s more, they have a train, farm animals for the youngins and as well as wine and beer on tap! I think you’re getting the picture of this one. Adults and even dogs are welcome at this Portland pumpkin patch.

Bi-Zi Farms, Vancouver, Wa

We wanted to be sure to include a unique pumpkin patch option for our friends near the border also, and Bi-Zi Farms is the perfect Vancouver pumpkin patch for you.

At Bi-Zi Farms you’ll find everything from an awesome tunneled out haystack pyramid, hayrides, corn mazes, and cute baby animals cover just about everything you would want in a perfect Portland area pumpkin patch for the entire family. They add to all of this with face painting, pony rides and even a free hot drink with admission, making it a must-see in the Vancouver area!

South Portland Area Pumpkin Patches

Lee Farms, Tualatin

Lee Farms in Tualatin pretty much has everything all in one place. If you are near the westside or southern part of the Portland area, this is the must-attend pumpkin patch.

Lee Farms offers everything from mazes (corn and rope), animals, hayrides, play areas, slides, and even tricycles. They even have pony and barrel wagon rides available, as well as face painting and lots of treats. They have pretty much covered just about all you want in a Portland area Pumpkin patch. A perfect place for the entire family to spend the afternoon.

Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, Woodburn

woodenshoepumpkin-patchThe fall harvest season is one of the most memorable to visit a farm. The Wooden Shoe Farm sets up for its Pumpkin Fest for the month of October, ending on the 30th!

The family can meander through their corn maze or have the kids ride on the cow train. Of course, picking out your pumpkins must be on your list before you leave. If you find a few pumpkins you don’t like they might be included in the pumpkin cannon to be shot 1/4 of a mile through the air!

Have the family try their hand at archery or duck races. All in all, just a regular day at the farm!

Eastside Portland Area Pumpkin Patches

Liepold Farms, Boring

Boring Oregon Pumpkin Patch Liepold FarmsVisiting Liepold Farms you can explore through 5 acres of corn mazes to get lost in! The Fall Festival season is the perfect time to come to this farm and enjoy all the fun festivities they have spread out over the farm. If you are interested in antique tractors and farming equipment then this is the farm for you! There is plenty to eat at the farm in their rustic cafe, The Owl Bistro, where you can indulge in local brews and wine, plus grilled chicken, BBQ pulled pork, nachos, salads and more.

The children can ride aboard an old-time hayride through the farm’s property and beautiful views of Mount Hood, then take turns launching apples with a catapult. If you hit the target you win a free pumpkin! There is also a smaller hay maze that they can try to wind their way out of and perhaps easier to tackle for smaller legs than the 5-acre corn maze. Next, have the younger children try our tricycle race track! Big wheeled trikes make it a fun day for everyone in your family at the farm in the Fall. Lastly head over to the Children’s Pavilion for fantasy play with a miniature tea house, a fairy tale castle and kick your shoes off in the corn bin to jump around.

Pick out your favorite pumpkins and have your little ones maneuver their own selections to the scales with our kid-sized wheelbarrows. Moms and Dads can pick from our large selection of gourds, corn stalks, and hay bales to make decorating the yard and house a blast!

Packer Orchards, Hood River

The whole month of October you can enjoy picking your favorite pumpkin in their pumpkin patch plus many other farm activities throughout the property. You can try your hand at pumpkin bowling and see how lucky you get in getting a strike! There are bins of apples and pears to choose from plus many delicious farm prepared baked goods. If you can’t just select one go with one from each, cookies, pies, jams and preserves. There is a covered picnic area if you can’t wait to get home to sample some of your foodie favorites.
