One of the best things about what we do, is seeing the results of the flooring, countertops and carpeting we sell. Sometimes we are truly amazed by what our customers achieve through the installation of new wood flooring and the before and after shots tell that story. It can only be summed up as a complete transformation of their home.
Though we aren’t always able to obtain detailed before and after pictures or video of all of the wood floor transformations we are a part of, we recently worked with two Portland veterans on their new wood floor projects. During this process, we were able to take a lot of photos and video of their stories as well as their before and after wood floor transitions.
Here are two incredible before and after wood flooring transformations from the Portland area.
Wood Flooring Before and After 1
This one is on the extreme makeover end of the scale. Tiffany, one of our Portland area vets that was selected to get new hardwood floors this year, went all out on her flooring project in Vancouver, Washington. She enlisted her friends, fellow local veterans and family members to maximize her gifted wood flooring project and turn it into a sizable first floor renovation.
Her friends and family team removed a wall that separated her kitchen and dining room to open it up to the living room to achieve a much more open floor plan. They went even further by removing an entryway closet to provide much more room inside the front entry and also removed a dated brick wall feature from the living room.
Tiffany chose our Aged Betula Lexington, a luxurious looking wide plank style flooring with a hand scraped finish. In conjunction with her dark color selection, the new wood floors really warmed up her downstairs space, giving it an updated look that is current, stylish and inviting.
Her and her team of friends and family continued their prep of the new open concept design for what our wood flooring installation team needed to get the new wood floors in. Once everything was done, we got to work and installed the beautiful new wood flooring in the entry, hallway, living room, dining room, kitchen and back den.
What a transformation new wood flooring makes, especially when it is combined with just a little bit of additional updating.
Portland Wood Floor Project – Before & After 2
Our second vet selected to be gifted new wood floors this year was Griffin. His home in Beaverton, Oregon was a little newer and had some existing hardwood floors in place, but they were heavily worn, had some damage and needed to be either refinished or replaced. Since Griffin liked the wood floor style he had, we opted to do three things for his flooring project:
1) We sanded and repaired his existing wood flooring in the entryway, hall, downstairs half bath and kitchen.
2) We replaced the carpet in his open plan family room off the kitchen with unfinished solid Red Oak wood flooring, installed, sanded and stained in place to make it perfectly and seamlessly matched to his existing wood flooring.
3) Finally, he preferred to go with a darker color, so we completed by staining and refinishing about 400 sq ft of the existing wood floor along with the new matched hardwood flooring that was added to the family room a warm high end color.
The new wood flooring transformation for Griffin’s project went a long way to transform the dated floor look he once had. The change to just the floors in this Beaverton home made a huge impact and helped this wonderful Portland veteran continue the home renovations he and his wife had planned before her death.
